Abstract
View of the rubbish tip (Great Mount/Mount Pleasant) as it appeared in July 1788 when it was being levelled for Cold Bath Fields prison. The mount was 'composed wholly of rubbish brough from the city after the Great Fire of London in 1666. The mount was levelled and thrown in the great hollow where formerly ran the River Fleet' (in artist's hand).
