Abstract
View of the rubbish tip (Great Mount/Mount Pleasant) and river Fleet. 'This is as it appeared in July 1788 when it was beginning to be levelled, some part of the boundary walls next the North East are already built of the New/Cold Bath Fields Prison which prison is now standing on the spot formerly occupied by the mount'. The mount was 'composed wholly of rubbish brough from the city after the Great Fire of London in 1666. The mount was levelled and thrown in the great hollow where formerly ran the River Fleet' (in artist's hand on 510113).
