Description
This is the drover’s arm badge number 701, belonging to David Brown. Made of enamel and leather. It is a proof of a licensed drover to drive herds of cattle to the Metropolitan Cattle Market (later Caledonian Market). It must be presented with the associated licence, issued by the Cattle Markets Committee – the authority responsible for granting the licence, to the market clerk when a licence renewal was required.
